Meter Needle

This meter was one of the first clips I recorded for the stock footage blog.  That was almost 3 years ago (from the time of THIS posting).  Looping this was quite fun, and actually pretty easy.  The chaotic movement of the needle made finding a transition point simple (I practically guessed!).

Christmas Bubble Light

I wish this one was relevant year round.  I love the energy that the bubbles create.  This might be one of my shortest loops and thinnest masks too.  I also needed to alter the framing vs. the original shot.  The neat thing about working with a somewhat still frame, it allowed me to add more of the image to the sides using the content aware fill feature in Photoshop.  That way I could still keep my desired aspect ratio AND the proper framing.  Nothing beats the nostalgic feeling of seeing some of these bubble lights on a Christmas Tree.

A Sunset by the Water

Water is slowly becoming my favorite element to work with in regards to creating cinemagraphs.  Even with very little movement, you can sense the raw power it holds.  I've only animated a sliver of this frame, for a small amount of time, but the motion seems to resonate even to waves that are still.  I hope travel bloggers will find this useful.

A Computer Hard Drive

Perfect for the tech blogger,  I shot this clip with a macro lens and only the light from my Nexus 7 tablet.  Had a lot of fun doing it.  I think this is one of those "true" Cinemagraphs too. Considering all of the moving parts a hard drive has, I chose to only move the actuator arm.  I think it works pretty well since the motion blur from the spinning platters and spindle gives the illusion that the drive is still in motion anyway.

A Cassette Tape

Another great one.  I originally shot this clip when I was geeking out over the movie "Guardians of the Galaxy".  If you are late to the game and are still reviewing the film, this may be the perfect blog header or pagebreak for you.  If you are fluent in Photoshop, you can also add whatever text you'd like to the tape label.

A Leaf in a Stream

This is one of those that are both simple and fun.  You'd think that by isolating the motion in the water to just one tiny crest over a rock, you'd lose the perception of running water.
